Vision

We the Benedictine Sisters of St. Lioba, understand ourselves as a Congregation of consecrated women, rooted in the Divine and committed to the well-being of humanity, specially the poor, downtrodden and the marginalized of the society. Our contemplation on God’s mysteries challenges us to the service of His people.

Charism  “To respond to the needs of the Church”

The Motto  of our congregation is  “Never Forsake Charity”

Our Coat of Arms and its meaning:

The bell:     In the Vita of St. Lioba, we read that she – like a bell – announced the good News of Christ.

The Star:    It was the Feast of Epiphany, when Mother Foundress got the call to follow Christ in the Benedictine way of life.  She saw “the star like the Wise Men of the Gospel and she followed it together with her community.

The Cross: It shall remind us of the cross flower – the highest point – of the Cathedral tower of Freiburg, where our congregation was founded.  We are following Christ on His way of the cross.

The Lily:    It comes from the Coat of arms of Mother Maria Benedicta’s family.
